There are a few routes to take when travelling from Jindabyne to Adaminaby, in the essence of time I chose the path of least resistance; cutting across from Berridale via Middlingbank Rd.
A quick stop around half way along Middlingbank Rd to collect some firewood in prep for camping at Denison.
The current agenda being a couple nights at Anglers Reach for which I wanted to maximise fishing time over a search for wood time!

On arriving to destination Anglers Reach I wished I’d chosen to camp over the accomodation!
It was pretty woeful and much pricier than what felt like resort style living at Jindabyne to make a comparison.
After pulling up the doona and noting what looked like either chip crumbs or skin flakes underneath, I made the executive decision to return the doona to original state, grab my sleeping bag and push the pillows to the side.

Anglers Reach is quite temperate, the forecast temp v the feels like temp observes quite a large standard deviation!
I can report that I had the heater pumping!

Before long I was fast asleep, looking forward to fishing the ‘Euc’ at Providence Portal next morning.

Providence Portal just doesn’t disappoint! Without fail every time I’m here it feels like I’ve been teleported to a mythical place.
Being a Thursday I had to take full advantage as there were only a few fishers about, knowing full well this was going to change the next day.
And boy did the Euc produce…

I lost count of the number of brown trout I saw and landed, the only real disappointment being a bust off on the fish of a lifetime. But that’s the way fishing goes, and there’s always next year!
On a very positive note, the new Sage Igniter 6wt scored a proper christening, fishing in this environment it excelled 🙂
If I haven’t previously mentioned it; Providence portal at this time of year is an amazing place, if you remove the weekend chaos of fisher folk flogging a dead horse it feels quite surreal.

And of course it wouldn’t be a trip without a work call…

And that closes out this part of the trip, next up the final leg – a couple nights camping at Denison.
