With an ADO booked in for Friday, the trip began with an early get away and a quick pit stop at Mountain High Pies for a feed, then a quick flick at the Upper Turon.
The Turon is fishing well, maybe the term “well” is a lie, it is the best I’ve ever seen!
Fast forward a few hours later and I’m at Hill End; firewood has been sourced, dinner complete and I’m sinking a couple JD’s by the fire!
Next day was the obligatory trip to Mudgee and a chance to survey the damage from the Alpha Rd bush fire.
After devouring a curry pie and apple pie I finally bought a new hat!
Post Mudgee I took Windeyer, Pyramul and Sallys Flat Roads to Sofala to have a closer look at the full extent of the Alpha Rd fire, it’s amazing how well the NSW RFS have protected properties, it is almost like they channeled the fire away!
Trusty old Sofala Campground, just across the Crossley Bridge.
Sunday morning and another awesomely dak creaming camp was nearing a close. A quick stop at Sofala for a coffee and then along the Upper Turon Rd with a detour to Portland via Sunny Corner.
And just like the trip began, with a pit stop for a feed; it ended in the same fashion…
