Yes, you read right, Belangelo State Forest the infamous forest you’ve heard about for all the wrong reasons!
Truth be known this is a slightly late post, three weeks late to be frank. I’ve been away for work and caught Covid.
Anyway, Dalys Clearing was a camp site that I wanted to tick off the list, would I go there again – NO. It was bitterly cold, windy and dusty. The ground gets packed with inconsiderably noisy campers due to being a very easily accessible site and people drive through the camp ground with flood lights on at all hours of the night.
There isn’t all that much pleasantries walking the surrounds of Daly Clearing, the human race is disgusting as per the commentary below:
That being said, it was great to get away and camp, have a warm brew in the morning and chill for most of the day.
Big fires are a must when staying at Belangelo.
Pro tip: pine burns like crap and bellows smoke, look a little further from the camp ground for some decent hard wood 🙂
The memorial for the victims is small and located well off the beaten track, I’m guessing this is due to the proximity where the remains were discovered. It is such a horrific thing that happened, we hope nothing like this happens again.
