Friday night at ‘Wang’ is starting to become a common theme!
Knock off work Friday arvo and head up the highway, stop for a feed at Blackheath fisho and arrive at Lake Wallace around 9’ish, freeze your arse off setting up the tent and then warm up by the fire sipping a beverage…

Once daylight savings has clocked off (all puns intended) Lake Wallace becomes a different place; less people camping, less noise and it is silly cold. But trust me, this is a good thing.
As always the next morning when camping at Wallace involves a stop off at Wang (Wallerawang) Bakery for a pie and sweets!

The square shaped pie is the renouned pie of the week, this particular week it was curry steak and potato! Delicious!!
With a stunning day in toe post consumption it was decided to head over to Turon River NP, there’s a lookout along the Pinnacle Fire Trail and my initial thoughts were let’s check it out and if possible camp the night.
The first section of the Pinnacle from Turon River NP has been graded, previously it was an absolute steep mess that was starting to get out of control. Most of the trail up to the lookout is quite smooth, there’s a small section nearing the top that is a little loose. YouTube clip below covering most of the trip:
The lookout is a stunning place, and apart from a few blow byes it was a stunning afternoon with the weather putting it on!

Definitely one of the most stunning evening camps I’ve been fortunate to be part of.

And just like that, morning greeted us!

After a lazy breakfast we travelled on to Pinnacle Rock where it quickly became time for morning tea!

Mental note; always buy extra at the bakery 😉

Travelling down the steep Blackbutt Mountain FT we arrived at what was hopefully the next camp site. After sussing out the surrounding widow makers (overhanging gum trees) we decided with heavy heart to give the spot a miss.

We took the long route to Dark Corner via Turpins FT, it was a rough and steep track that was slow going with everything shaking around in the truck. Near the end of Turpins we decided to break for lunch and then head on towards Dark Corner Rd where we aired our tyres back up for the blacktop.

With the day starting to get away we made our way to Marrangaroo NP where a quick camp was set up, tea cooked and fire stoked.

And no better way to start the day off than with a coffee, sadly though the trip home post coffee was about to begin.

And just like that it was time to air the tyres up and hit the black top, another successful trip done and dusted!

The Pinnacle Fire Track never fails to impress. Whilst it was a bit bumpier this time around, it was still a good drive and a chance to really forget about work for a whole day, as our minds were on the drive.
I am looking forward to getting back up that way soon – perhaps to do “The Pinn” back the other way.
