By day I venture across the Australian continent spreading the good word to Windows users both small and large, tall and short. How do I do this they ask, how do I do that they ask, what does this do, why doesnt this work, can you fix this, can you fix that, it must work, it used to work, my goodness it works and most of the time at the end of the day I get a huge Thank You. By night I recooperate, but not before finishing left over work and enjoying a meal at a strange but often friendly place.
I really enjoy the peace and tranquility of heading out to the bush, my favourite location is the NSW Central Highlands, where I can camp, fourwheel drive and fish till my hearts content, and then at the end of the day sit by a fire and stare at the stars. Sometimes I really wish they could put more hours into one day!
During my childhood I spent alot of time fishing the coastal waters of Sydney. I have fond memories of Darling Harbour before it became what it is now, it was a run down dock, huge piers with missing wooden planks, deserted, but a great fishery - you never left without a bucket full of fish. The passion for fishing died down through most of my twenties, but was rekindled a few years ago, and then I discovered fly fishing - what a buzz to head out to a small but remote stream to stalk trout. And when you find a trout in one of these waterways the challenge of hooking it and landing it makes for a rememerable event - even if it gets away!
I live in a world of Windows, everything is a GUI, everything is a double click, everything is so controlled, its like your being monitored, your freedom is taken away from you, walk to close to the edge and you could fall into a blue screen. I wish I could integrate FreeBSD into every aspect of the world I live in, just imagine the freedom of not having what you want to do dictated to you, if it doesnt work you can make it work, if you dont want to use a GUI you have the most powerful tool in the world known as the shell, there is no licensing, no registration, you can even choose how you want to install it and most importantly there are no blue screens.
Operating Systems that I recommend and regularly use are:
