The water falls that are located within the Black Forest are huge, water gushing over the rocks creates a misty and moist presence. There are a million things to do and see, one day just isnt enough time!

Kudos to all the aeroplane pilots out there! Last night I flew back to Sydney from Rockhampton (via Brisbane), it was a typical flight from Rocky to Brisbane, short enough not to get bored, but long enough to grab a quick nap. Personally I prefer to fly Virgin over the other Aussie air lines, why? Well the typical air stewardess is quite attractive which always makes the flight less boring in the occular department, the other major Aussie airline seems to use old boilers, which isnt a bad thing, but for a young bloke like me (well kind of young) isnt such a specticle. Sorry I have gone off the subject... Anyway the flight from Brisbane to Sydney was going quite well, 8:05pm landing which would mean that I would get home at around the 9pm mark. This was all fine until at around 7:30pm the pilot made an announcement that there was bad weather in Sydney and one of the runways was out of action due to this, we were now delayed an hour which meant circling around Sydney until it was all clear to land. So 8:05 was now turned to 9:05 and the wait began, I usually carry a magazine on board with me but this time I decided to pack it in with my other luggage. As we got closer to Sydney the plane started to shake, jump and bounce about mid air, the seat belt lights flashed and the pilot announced that we were about half an hour away from landing. I hate turbulence, appart from scaring the shit out of me they remind me of how small we really are in the whole scheme of things, such a big plane and its just being thrown around 22,000 feet up in the air. I had a window seat and was sitting just above the wing, every time the lights on the wing flashed I could see the rain pelting horizontally - the weather outside was miserable. For 45 minutes we flew through turbulence, I watched out the window and looked on in amazement as to how the wing actually stayed attached to the plane, modern ingenuity its amazing! As we got closer to touch down the turbulence got worse and worse and I was starting to get really scared, all I could think of was how the hell does someone land a plane in these conditions. As we approached the runway the plane was all over the place, kind of like a drunk driver who is trying to walk in a straight line to prove themself to the officer, my stomach was sinking deeper and deeper, all I could think of was crash scene investigations. But here I am almost 24 hours after the landing writing this, I must give praise to all the pilots out there, not only did this particular pilot land a plane in attrocious conditions, but it was an almost flawless landing - kudos to them, they are worth all the money they get paid! |
Munich again The last few months have been quite interesting in terms of travel, I was back over the other side of the world to Munich for work and afterwards I was fortunate enough to get some time off to visit relatives in a fabulous place called Villingen which is about an hour and a bit drive from Stutgart. I had only met my cousin and my auntie when I was very young, since that time another cousin entered into the world and it was a pleasure to catch up with both my cousins and my auntie, though I do wish that I could have stayed longer. They were extremely hospitable, as I have found most German people to be and they showed me around most of the sites within the area. Germany, definately a country that I could live in and many thanks to my long lost family for the special time that we were fortunate to have. I have a million and one photos that were taken during my trip on the new camera that I purchased, the Olympus SP 310, which is a very impressive camera. I am very used to my Canon 10D digital SLR which has been the par camera for all my photography on shintara.net, but its big, cumbersome to lug along and its definately something that I dont want to get damaged due to this. I was in search of a new digitial camera, something small that had manual capabilities and if I dropped or it got a fishy smell from my fishing journeys I wouldnt feel bad due to its relatively cheap price. I will post some of the better photos over the next few updates
New toys Also a newly acquired set of Cooper STT tyres for my 80 Series Landcruiser, the tyres are 33" in size and look great on the vehicle. Next weekend I get to test them off road, should be fun!
Hate Telstra, do you? I have set the timer on for the next time the phone line here goes down. I need somewhere to vent my anger towards being ripped off by Telstra. Dan at vilesilencer is doing a good job at knocking Telstra off top rank for search engine queries - doesnt that give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing that us small time players can give the big teleco's a run for thier money! |
Comments or Feedback anyone? Name: Lord Watchdog I doubt you could get me on a plane. Terra Firma for this boy at all times. Interesting talk about the waterfall too. Before that I thought Germany was all rolling green hills covered in snow. |
