The sun and its orange fireball like mass was half vanished under the horizon, I was fishing on the breakwall to the right and it was getting dark. I rushed to the trusty cruiser threw the rods, bucket and bag in the back, fumbled with the camera bag and got the tripod out of the back cursing at myself for packing things so tightly in there.
When I got back to the jetty the fireball was completely gone, to the right of me it was starting to get dark, to the left it was still light all while the orange haze was prominent in the horizon. I had to catch this phenomenum while it lasted and it didnt last long, before I knew it I was travelling back to the campsite in complete darkness.

Maturing While on the subject of photography, I feel as though I matured immensly as a photographer. Gone are the days of taking countless amounts of photos to only produce one good one. Yep I would take around 90 photos in a day or a photo stint and be lucky to get 1 or 2 that were good enough to go on shintara. This can be a good thing though, as it meant that all the photos that have been placed on shintara are of great quality and feeling - when I do surf the web and have a look at sites that display photos I realise that many people will place just about any photo on thier site, shintara cant and will not be like that. Its taken me this long to realise that on almost every update there is a new photo, and that photo is of exceptional quality due to my perfectionist stand on this issue. But back to the maturing subject, of late I havent been taking many photos, but the few photos that I have been taking are of far better quality than the countless masses of photos that I have taken in the past. Does this mean that I am getting more used to my camera and when I see a potential photo situation I am taking that opportunity. I think so, previously I would try to create that opportunity from something that may or may not have been there. Its different now, very different, so different in fact that I dont even go out looking for photographic opportunities. ‹quote› Enjoy the scenery and surrounding environment, feel it, hold it and be at one with it, only then will that photographic opportunity present itself to you for the taking ‹unquote› |
A week off I am lucky enough to have this week off before I start the new job, this means that I am going to try super hard to stay outdoors and to catch some fish. This week I am also in the hunt for a new fly reel and rod combo, and this quote taken from the Fish Outta Waters website describes my situation to a T, "If you've spent the balance of your angling life casting a 5-weight, picking up a #9 can be a humbling event". So this week could be a hubling event for myself - I am hoping to be humbled with a 50+cm flathead. Expect to see me at a reef near you! |
