The still waters on the Clyde River created the perfect mirror effect with the bank on the opposite side. This was taken at Shallow Crossing which has now become my favourite camping spot - closely followed by Hill End.

The update Well here it is, the promised site upgrade that has finally came. I havent transferred the content over from the old site so at present its just an interface upgrade, the backend is still to come :). If you want to view the old site the URL is http://shintara.net/archived/. The only links that are up at present are the about shintara and my portfolio, more will come very soon. The site itself not as flashy as I would have liked it to be, but it is better than the previous site which was dull, grey and boring. The site took me all of four hours to make (it sucks when time is against you) and is fully CSS, this is the second time that I have done this so if your using an old browser like Netscape 4.* or Internet Explorer 4.* you will probably have a hard time seeing what the site looks like. If you are using one of those stone aged browsers I would recommend upgrading to the latest version of your favouring browser, there are many reasons for this such as the browser not being CSS compatable and security issues to name two! So after almost a year, which I think is the longest I have ever had a single design online for, shintara has a new look - will it be here to stay? Yes! For the first time in a long time I am completely happy with the look, feel and content structure of shintara.net. | Mac convert I am proud to spread the good news to everyone that this version of shintara was made exclusively on Mac OSX. If your still using Microsoft Windows you dont know what your missing out on, Dan from vilesilencer is about to purchase a 17" powerbook and migrating to OSX from Windows. That is $4500 worth of laptop and money well spent! Is the PF project still alive? Finally I started to doubt the stability of the OpenBSD operating system, dont get me wrong the system is very strong and stable (more stable than another much more popular gui based operating system) but where the problem lied was if someone unplugged the power supply or there was a power outage. Being the poor bastard that I am I cant afford to buy a UPS so on a couple of occasions when there was a power outage on reboot the system became unrecoverable, this was really annoying when there were settings on there that I didnt back up! In stark contradiction to the above statements I did recover an OpenBSD machine that I use as a secondary DNS server last night after I accidently switched it off, it did take a little time but the machine works fine now. I might have to investigate this a little more. |
