In conjunction with last updates photo, another angle of the jetty and the backdrop of the Mackleay River. South West Rocks is an amazing place, a small town that during the holiday season is flooded with the influx of hundreds and maybe even thousands of happy campers, who have three common goals - rest, relax and fish!

A new mobile phone The last week has been one of new additions to my already very accessorised self. First of the bat is the Palm Treo 600 which is a spectacular piece of handheld equipment. Its a Palm PC and mobile phone in one, its got everything that the Palm operating system offers plus the mobile phone. Its easy to use, though I am still learning the ins and outs of it, its quite light and has a whole heap of accessories. My only gripe with this phone is the camera - at 0.3 megapixels its not the most sharpest of cameras, but I didnt buy the phone for this feature! Speaking of accessories, there are three that I have bought for the phone: the car charger (which I still havent put to use), the Innopocket metal delux case and the Exim screen protector. The phone doesnt fit well into the metal delux case (the holes dont line up very well) and have you ever tried to put one of those screen protectors on without getting a single air bubble inbetween it and the surface of the LCD? |
The new swag Using my previous swag as a benchmark on what features I wanted my new swag to have I set out on the journey of finding a replacement one that would have at least 90% of the features I wanted. There was 4 critera that was a must have: exellent ventilation, be double sized, PVC base and good quality durable canvas. The Burke & Wills Redgum swag offered that and a whole lot more! Aircraft strength aluminium poles, 15oz canvas featuring heavy duty zips, sandfly mesh with more than adequate ventilation, side and front entry, inside pockets and a whopping width of 1450mm which was a whole 250mm wider than my previous swag. I set the swag up in my parents backyard to condition the canvas a couple of days ago, it was a quick and simple set up, it took me under 4 minutes to have the swag fully set up and ready to sleep in. This weekend the swag will go through my rigorous camping schedule - this usually sorts the men from the boys and with some rain forecast over the weekend I am either going to get very wet or stay dry and warm! The list of pending reviews is growing, this swag is another addition to that list! |
Travelling this wonderful country of ours I am quite an avid camping fan, I enjoy travelling to remote destinations pitching a tent, lighting a fire, cooking food on that fire and staring into the stars at night whilst holding a Tooheys OLD. Hence my super strong urge to get away from the city life. Next July a few friends of mine and myself are planning a trip to the tip of Australia - Cape York, or otherwise known as The Cape. July is one of the best times to go to the Cape as its dry season, you dont get those torrential rains and flooding which makes for some unpassable rivers and creeks. I was surfing the web earlier this morning and I noticed that someone else I know is heading to the cape next year aswell. Scott from darklemon is heading that way and I would be inclined to say that it seems like it would be about the same time aswell - how wierd would it be bumping into someone you know at the Cape!?! To say the least I am loathing in jealousy at Scotts planned trip next month which from the looks of things will be up the east coast and then through the central crack of Australia. Dammit, are we there yet! |
Chucking a sickie for the right reasons This morning I did something that I didnt want to do, but I just couldnt make it to work. I woke up with a bloated belly, headache and a feeling of nausea that just wouldnt go - so I decided then and there that work wasnt going to happen today. I dont like taking days off work, but I dont think I would have been of any use in the workplace today. So here I am now doing a shintara update while feeling not of the best and pondering on what the rest of the day has in store for me. Worst part is I have no appetite and the thought of food is making my stomach growl unrepeatable words to me! |
Comments or Feedback anyone? Name: Watchdog I can't wait to get up north! I've been waiting for this day for years and it's finally gunna happen next year. When I get the fourby no-one in Sydney is gunna see me for the dust. The hardest thing of all will be taking a large slice of the 3 months of annual leave I have saved upskies. Name: |
