It was a great day to walk the boardwalk across the water and onto Back Beach at South West Rocks. The morning sun shone over the beach and watched me drop a few salmon back into thier oceanic homes.

Its been a while... Its been a long time since updates, almost a month, well 28 days to be precise. Quite a number of things have been happening as the world has been evolving around me, much of this has been procrastination on my behalf and other things have been events that I cannot control, but more on those events a little further into this update. As last update indicated I went camping for a few days to the relaxing Shallow Crossing, relaxing it wasnt as the rain wreaked havok for the first night - it made setting up camp quite a challenge. My windscreen leaked water untill we reached Nowra, it wasnt till I made the decision to silicone it up that the water leak grinded to a halt - a lesson was learnt here, Windscreens O'Brian dont do a great job at sealing thier screens after they fit them... and tommorrow I have to go back for the third time to get the leak fixed! The third and final straw was the log and the four wheel drive incident. I stopped at the campsite with the landcruiser on a downward slope so when I threw the firewood off the roof racks it would roll down the hill. The largest log defied gravity after being thrown a good 2 metres from the cruiser it bounced back and gave it a nice dent - an hour later the owner of the camping grounds cattle dog decided to mark its territory on my new swag! Shallow Crossing is supposed to be relaxing. Last Sunday a friend from work and I went for a quick overnighter to Myall Lakes National Park which is about 45 mins past Newcastle. What a fantastic place, beach to your right and lake to your left, and your camping inbetween them. I dropped another salmon on the beach and then the rain hit, and did it hit hard. We were lucky enough to get a fire going, cook up a treat on the barbie and enjoy another great camp site dinner. The rain stopped at around 8pm and we were lucky to not see it till about 11pm - this meant arming ourselves with the trusty old Jack Daniels and enjoying the usual campsite tales. The next day the big rains that drenched Sydney for a week started - we were packing up the last bits of the camp when it began - and it didnt stop till the end of the week.
All things on the coronary After about 15 minutes of thinking about what transpired I decided to try and find out what was wrong, so I phoned the hospital and found out he was in a stable condition and doing quite well - this took care of my worries till I got home and was able to go to the hospital and visit. To cut a long story short they tested for a PE (Pulmonary Embolism) which was negative and then they cardiac catheterised him and found out that his LAD (Left Anterior Descending) artery was 70% blocked - hence the heart attack. So today he had another cardiac catheterisation, the artery was ballooned and then stented - with a 99% success rate this should hopefully fix the problem. |
Fishing with fly's Tommorow morning I will be starting a new era of fishing, fly fishing. I will be travelling to Fish Outta Water to get my first fly rod and reel combo, with this will come the line which comprises of two parts, the backing and the fly line. I also will be purchasing some fly's aswell and not to forget the leader which is the line that goes between the fly line and the fly! I am hoping that its not all to painful - the learning process that is, over the weekend I purchased a video on fly casting which was very informative to say the least. After watching 63 minutes of the video I am feeling very confident at attempting fly fishing! For those of you who are interested the video is called "Basic Fly Casting with Dough Swisher". |
More fly fishing The reel (all puns intended) test will be on Friday morning when I will be hitting Narrabeen Lakes with a friend to do some salt water fly fishing.
I am hoping to purchase one of the above fly's which represents the head of a pilchard. Next update you will find out how successful, frustrated or how many tantrums I threw! |
So many things, so little time I have been meaning to add some more content to the site, but as per usual time and other personal matters have taken a greater hold on my creative time and constricted it to almost nothing. I still have to write some reviews and add some more content to the rest of the site. Life for me has moved more towards the great outdoors and I am enjoying as much of it as I can, this means more fishing and sleeping in a swag around the camp fire. So until next update, take care, keep fishing and keep it reel! |
