The Landcruiser having a well earnt break in a creek! Dont be mislead by the blue skies and sunny backdrop, it was cold, very cold and in actual fact the only time this creek fills is after it snows - and it snowed at Hill end just last week!
|
Brad from Iserv and I then proceeded to set up camp as swiftly as possible, to be honest all I had wanted to do was to get to bed and sleep as I had spent all day modifying and fitting a cargo barrier for the landcruiser so it would fit over the drawer set in the back. I was lucky enough to not have brought my usual tent that requires a university degree to set up and a spare hour, it was the night that my new swag would be christened (well so to speak)! The swag was up in about 10 minutes.
The morning was quite cold outside the swag and the weather didnt seem to change at all during the 2 days stay there, being in the winter months it is what you would expect. Hill End is slowly changing, comercialised is what it is becoming, the road from Mudgee to Hill End is becoming black top and the Bridle Track has been graded with some new signage appearing that is classifying it as a "four wheel drive" only effort - after seeing a van tipped over the edge of a bluff on one of the more dangerous parts of the Bridle Track I can see why this aggressive approach of fore-warning travellers along the route has been used. It actually felt weird approaching Monoghans Bluff and seeing a huge sign saying 'use extreme caution through this area' being displayed. The Bridle Track is known for its appeal to four wheel drivers, those who dont posses common sense deserve a one way pass off the edge! The scary thing is these are the people that ruin it for everyone, there are always a few individuals who are hell bent on destroying, damaging or abusing one thing or another so it gets ruined for everyone else.
All up it was a good couple of days get away, and being at one with nature is always a priority in my life at present. Who in thier right mind doesnt want to enjoy the beauty of this wonderful country and marvel at the creations that God has made!
That Swag The AAA Viking swag was the one that stood out from all the ones I had researched, though I had never actually seen one I had recieved a pamphlet on them, and from what I had seen in most camping shops the quality and pricing of swags was a little undesirable. What made the Viking swag appealing to me was its versatility and what seemed to be ease of use. So what I have decided to do is write up a review of the swag, considering it is an over the phone or online sale you cant fully appreciate the product unless you see it in real life and to an extent use it. Over the next few days I will compile an unbiased review of the fully optioned double sized AAA Viking swag that I purchased which will include photos of the product - this way if you are considering purchasing a swag you can get the real deal from the shintara review of it. |
Its been busy After finishing 8 days straight of work and CT call the weekend before that I have had little chance to even take the time out to read while being seated on the Royal Doulton. Its been a crazy few weeks and I am sure things wont let up now for a few more. I am hoping to start filling some more content on the site, if you think its annoying clicking on a link and ending up back at this page imagine how I feel knowing that there is no time to fix the problem. I am doing a few night shifts in a couple of weeks, this should give me the time to work on getting some of the content ready for publishing. I have for some strange reason enjoyed working night shifts as it gives me a break from doing the daily grind and of course you get out of driving in crazy traffic to and from work! At this stage is about time for me to hit the hay and get ready for another day at work, I am going to get a lotto ticket on the way to work and hopefully have a very early retirement take place over the next week! Ahhh dreams are for free.... |
