With the long haul from Sydney to Wee Jasper over, the first night in the roof top felt like my head hitting the pillow and first light occurring a few minutes later! Quick as a flash I was up, teeth brushed, face washed and espresso on the boil!<\/p>\n\n\n

With some dark clouds, lightning and thunder in the distance I didn’t want to get caught up in any torrential rain on the uphill out of Wee Jasper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Post a very swift pack up I made my way out of Micalong Creek Reserve following the washed out and windy goat track they call Nottingham Rd! With the rain starting to set in I didn’t waste any time and after what felt like an eternity I hit my first stumbling block, after coming so far there was just no way I was turning back…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately for me, it was just passable. With a little bit of scrub on the undercarriage!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bash plates and sliders, if you don’t have them on your 4wd we can’t take you seriously \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last time I attempted to cut across from Brindabella Rd to Long Plain the weather was not favourable and the tracks turned into red dirt soup which ultimately resulted in sticking to the tarmac via the long way round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With hand on heart I turned onto Barnetts Rd which becomes Boundary Rd, I’m still unsure why these goat tracks are known as roads (my body was glad the decision to air down my tyres was made), eventually I turned off the “road” and onto Broken Cart Track!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I must admit, I thought Broken Cart Track was going to be much longer, maybe the shortness was due to the lengthy drive along Boundary Rd, who knows!?! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before long I pulled up to Cooinbil Hut for a quick lunch and then aired up at the junction of Long Plain Rd and Snowy Mountains Hwy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the weather fining up I was looking forward to setting up camp at Three Mile Dam, enjoying dinner, a few beers and some fishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately the weather Gods didn’t seem to like my plans, and as can be when in the high country the weather took a sudden turn with storms and high wind on the menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make matters worse nature has a knack of calling at the worst times!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I did get to enjoy a beer and bbq \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n

As night rolled in the weather cleared up, for me it was an early night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daylight broke through the darkness to reveal a picture perfect day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My plans were simple, check out Dry Dam, Cabramurra and head to Denison Campground to stay the night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
